![]() John is over 85 stories tall and can level entire buildings with a swing of his mighty arm. Living in a cave for the first 15 years of his life, John has surprisingly bad night vision but the hearing of a bat. He can only spell his name and say "thank you" in sign language. This apparent shortcoming does not seem so significant when compared to his many accomplishments, which include the invention of the steam locomotive in 1804. After a short 196-year nap, John began learning and teaching lindyhop in 2000. Originally focusing on the lines and form of Dean Collins, he has since learned from and danced with a wide variety of instructors including Sylvia Sykes, Dave and Kim, Evin Galang and Andrew Twiss, Skye Humphries, Justin Zillman, Peter Loggins and many others. These influences have allowed his dancing to merge into a blend of styles. He is a very energetic instructor who enjoys bringing new people into the dance through his teaching. |

![]() Leonard is founding member of SwingOutDayton and has been dancing Lindy Hop since 2000. Known for his enthusiasm, skill and communicative teaching approach, Leonard has sought to bring back the energy and spirit of many vernacular jazz dances including Swing, Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, Blues, and Collegiate Shag. Since moving to Columbus he no longer regularly teaches in Dayton (stupid grad school) but since he designed the website decided to stick his picture in anyway. He also has an impressively long name. |
